Social Bookmarking Software – windows applications

Ok so with the initial part of this post out of the way lets get to actually looking into these different social bookmarking softwares and see what each one has to offer us in terms of traffic, links, ease of use, reliability and all those other factors that make using these softwares good or bad.

Bookmarking Demon ($97(v3), soon to rise to $147(v4))

I have been using this program by Edwinsoft for just over a year now and have seen it go from strength to strength to meh. Basically it has become somewhat outdated in its uses and the drivers (for social bookmarking sites)?that it supports, now there is a good reason for this in that Edwin has taken some time out of updating drivers to concentrate on creating the new version which from most accounts seems to address a lot of the criticisms placed upon BMD. That is not to say that BMD is a useless tool right now, far far from it.

For the one off $97 fee you will get monthly updates for life and access to future upgrades such as the much touted new version 4. Ok this sounds like a good deal, what sites can it handle? Currently it is really only useful for gaining links back from scuttle sites. Most of the major site drivers have become outdated and as such are pretty useless. Some scuttle sites can give good returns in that they generally are not heavily moderated and have a mix of templates and IPs to gain backlink juice from.

Is bookmarking demon worth $97 baring in mind it really only is a scuttle site submitter? No. Is it worth the $97 considering you will get a free upgrade to v4 when it comes out? Probably.

It really is a shame that BMD isnt in better shape at the minute as I have really enjoyed using this software and would recommend it to anyone on the basis that version 4 turns out half as good as it is meant to be but I cannot be sure that it will as I am not part of the beta test team. I will update here when a newer version has been brought out.

SEnuke?- ($97 per month)

Ok so you’re probably sat here thinking DANG why so much? Well Ill tell you why so much, because SEnuke is possibly the most feature rich windows application for doing keyword research, finding affiliate products to promote and lots of link building functionality. This tool is great for getting links from a variety of places such as youtube, myspace, google videos, stumbleupon and many many more major high PR sites. It is a great piece of software for finding a niche, spinning some articles and them posting them to a bunch of sites to get your articles published and promoted all in a very short amount of time.

However there is a but to this program and a big but at that. It seems very limited for extensive link building. For getting noticed in smaller niches it is great and is a very unique tool in the scope of its uses but for pushing existing sites to hundreds of sites and building thousands of backlinks from unique sources with a range of PRs it will sadly not satisfy. If I were to recommend spending $97 a month on a piece of software like this you would have to be an affiliate marketer that simply publishes articles and hopes to rake in some profit with an ever expanding net of articles and blog posts.

This software is not really aimed at those just wanting to gain hundreds of backlinks quickly it is more about gaining a select bunch (around 20 or so) quality high PR backlinks which are great for ranking when the competition is low, which you can see using this software. It isnt for everyone but is a kick ass tool in its own right.

Social Bookmarking Software

Ok Recently I have been looking into different softwares to?increase?my social bookmark back links. If you ahve been living under a rock for the past few years you may not know that social bookmarks are the single easiest method of gaining hundreds of backlinks over night and carry on increasing backlinks pretty much indefinitely.

What are Social Bookmarks? Well basically they are like bookmarks (or favourites if you use IE) in your web browser only they are held on a website such as There are many different approaches to this system whereby some sites are content to offer bookmarking facilities and others have a more complicated system of ranking such as digg or stumbleupon.

Why use social bookmarks? This one is easy peasy lemon squeezy. Basically if you are reading here you probably are aware that if you want to rank for any keyphrase you will need some links based around that phrase. Social bookmarks will cater for this need, if you choose to have your profile public. Not all links are equivalent and some of these will not benefit your rankings other than to get you listed initially.

What social bookmarking sites are the best? Hard to say really, some will increase trafiic almost instantly (digg and stumbleupon), some will get you indexed very quickly (jumptags) and others will get you raising your search engine ranking before long. What is best really depends on what will get the job done in the best time dependant on what you require from these websites.

How many bookmarking websites are there? Err how long is a pece of string? There are literally thousands upon thousands of them, not all are worth the effort to post to, if you are already listed in the SEs there is little benefit in adding your site to a quick indexing site, also if you have the #1 spot for a term why would you want to increase your ranking(I know it isnt this simple, just making a point).

Is social bookmarking to lots of sites beneficial? YES, a million times yes. At present social bookmarking sites offer literally THE BEST way to gain thousands of whitehat links and stick to your required anchor text as well as have total control over the page content that links back to you. You really can gain premier 1 way contextual backlinks which, lets face it, are the holy grail of every SEO campaign.

Ok so with that out of the way lets get straight to our reviews, this is by no means the be all and end all of social bookmarking software but they are probably the only ones really worth considering as a full bookmarking solution.

  1. Bookmarking Demon?- Windows App for semi-automatically signing up to major SB sites and search out and automatically sign up to scuttle sites
  2. SEnuke?- Windows App for creating accounts and bookmarking, also has a lot of features that are not in the scope of this article but which can be useful to some, more on these later.
  3. Auto Social Submitter – A wordpress plugin which auto posts to previously created accounts
  4. Socialize it Pro – WP plugin for submitting to previously created accounts
  5. SQUIRT?- Web application for submitting to some bookmarking services automatically
  6. Rank4?- Web application submits to major sites, scuttle sites. Wide array of randomisation and uses hundreds of accounts (Not in public beta yet)

Ok now you have the list of some of the more useful tools for building backlinks by social bookmarking I will delve into the details of each software in the next post to come a little later on today. It will have pricing details as well as go into the features of each software solution. Have fun

Blog Comment Demon Review

Well after spending a late one writing my PR Storm Review?last night I thought I would post about a great little program by Edwinsoft?called Blog Comment Demon. What this windows application does is search, based on your keywords, for blogs of varying platforms and return a huge list along with PR, platform and the keyword used to find that blog.

I have used Edwinsoft’s programs a lot in the past and am very familiar with them, I have bought both his major tools and found them to be very reliable (apart from the authentication) and stable in their use, even after 5+days of constant use. What separates Blog Comment Demon from other blog commenters is that this one is totally white hat, is very easy to use and provides lots of feedback on the huge amount of search results.

Ok so right from the start, once you have Blog Comment Demon installed and you have entered in your login info you get a very easy to use screen with a search box, lots of tick boxes for the different blog platforms and a search results box. There is proxy support but it is just for the use with a single proxy so its use is only good if you have a permanent ban from the search engines. The search is based off of google results and as such will provide you with lots of relevant results but at the same time if you are using very general terms, or those that return an ungodly amount of results, you will need to visit google now and again to enter in the captcha.

Aside from the lack of real proxy support the program is actually pretty quick to return your results and will give plenty (5k+ on average for medium tail keywords) of blogs to leave your comments on. Unlike some other softwares it will not import your details to form fields. The lack of form input, though quite major, needn’t make this software harder to use than other similar products as you could easily install a free browser plugin such as roboform to do this for you.

Every blog that is found to be relevant to your keywords will be scanned for PR and displayed in your results box along with the keyword that returned a particular blog and the platform of the blog. You can choose to search for lots of different blog platforms such as:

  • WordPress
  • TextPattern
  • Drupal
  • Typepad
  • Nucleus
  • b2 evolution
  • ExpressionEngine
  • Blogspot
  • BlogDrive

This is a good coverage and means you will be targetting all the major blog platforms in use today. Once you have your results you can visit each blog by double clicking each one, one by one, and that will take you to your default web browser with that blog loaded up, you can open up a bunch all in a row and they will be loaded into their own tabs which can help in loading a lot in the background to save on time.

With all that said I have to say that Blog Comment Demon is great for gaining a huge list of blogs to target in your comment backlink campaigns as the amount of blogs it returns is just incredible. If you are looking for a black hat auto all in one spamming solution you will need to invest in some other tool to leave comments on these blogs or just do it the good old White Hat method of leaving comments one by one. The price of Blog Comment Demon is currently set at $47 down from $97 which for what it accomplishes should be considered a steal.

PR Storm review

Ok so we are going to be starting our SEO software reviews?off with a little classic windows application that has stirred up a whole bunch of controversy over its years since release. Some say that the tool is old hat and is just asking for trouble (will extend on this later on) whereas others claim that it not only is still relevant but if used ‘correctly’ can be a very useful traffic and backlink generator.

Now PR Storm is whats called a referral spamming program, what it basically does is spoof a bunch of traffic to a set list of websites in the hope that?3 things will be achieved:

  1. Backlinks will be generated in the, hopefully, indexed visitor logs
  2. Backlinks will be placed on websites where the webmaster sees the referrals and places a link on their website
  3. Generate traffic from webmasters visiting and using your website

Now I will start by addressing whether the program is able to fulfil any of the main aims above and whether it is an effective marketing process even worth attempting.

The list of sites that you feed the program via the simple URL list txt file will hopefully index their visitor stats, possibly to prove viewership to potential advertisers, and if they do when you send X amount of spoofed referrals from your website you will llikely appear with a link back to your site. This is good for gaining backlinks, sometimes these can be on high PR sites if you are lucky. You will never really know exactly how many referrals to the site but a sufficient level shouldnt be too hard to find. This can actually be very beneficial to a marketing campaign.

Point (2) is actually a little less likely to happen, some suggest that PR Storm will generate these fake referrals, webmasters will see them and visit your site. If a webmaster is to look at your site they will most likely not find their referral and indeed not link back to you. Its not an impossibility but should not be your main focus while using this tool in my opinion, only if you actually do have a link to their site presently on your site.

Webmasters will probably look at your site but dont expect to convert them into sales, leads or ad clicks as they will tend to be more savvy than the average visitor.

Now onto a bit of the controversy surrounding the PR Storm program. Basically as the program will spam site with any number of hits that you specify and can mean spamming literally thousands and thousands of sites ending in millions of hits at rapid rate. This is possibly an illegal act and should not be taken lightly, that is not to say it can be done without pissing anyone off too much. If you do intend on using PRStorm do try to hit a huge (1k+) site list at any time and with as fewer referrals as possible to minise the risk of getting the attention of your ISP and angry webmasters.

PRStorm was taken off the market a good few years ago but it is readily available on lots of websites so it is unlikely to ever be too hard to find from somewhere. The only issue I had with using PR Storm for was really getting a good list of sites to hit, there are lots of lists to download around the net and that is all good and well but generally the sites on these lists will have likely been hit hard so the gains from these sites will be slightly diminished.

If you want to use this tool to its full extent you will be best off trying to find a smaller searching tool to generate custom lists as these will be best suited to your niche and therefore less likely to have been spammed and as such the links will be easier to gain and better links in the end.
